In this last half of SEGMENT 8 The "Purple Rain" movie, shooting of "Purple Rain" concludes, and Warner Brothers Pictures is not impressed with the film.  They feel they will have a problem marketing this “Black Movie” to a mainstream audience.  The managers make strong appeals to Warner Brothers Pictures and they (with great hesitation) greenlight it.

Mo Ostin, Chairman of WB Records, comes up with a “Purple Rain roll-out” strategy to guarantee optimal commercial success for the “Purple Rain” album.  The plan is to release the first single “When Doves Cry” in May, The “Purple Rain” album in June, and then the “Purple Rain” movie will be released in July. 

Looking back over past episodes of this series, we understand now why the “Purple Rain” movie will be released in July, and why the album is released in June right? The managers, mainly Howard Bloom plan a propaganda publicity campaign to promote the “Purple Rain” movie, by planting outrageous “Prince” stories in the media.  Remember what I always say about falling for the false propaganda about Prince dating back to these first 7 years of Prince’s career.

Michael Jackson attends an industry advanced screening of “Purple Rain”, and can’t hide his “hateration”.  Then, a few days later, “Purple Rain” premieres in Hollywood at Mann’s Chinese Theater.  We will look at the footage of the Movie  Premiere and the Premiere After Party that was broadcast live on MTV that day.

We decode the movie premiere and release dates, as well as many other aspects of the movie release, to uncover more Prince ritual coding.  We also look at Prince's "tried and true" Mind Control triggers and tributes present in the “Purple Rain” movie, some "hidden"; others in plain sight.  There are a few other hidden surprises revealed as well.

In the end, Morris finally reveals that The Time has disbanded, and Apollonia 6 lasts only a short time longer.  Prince then moves on from the movie project and side groups and begins planning the "Purple Rain" tour focusing on a new album, a new side group, "The Family", and his new protege, Sheila E.  We will look at these last topics in even more detail in SEGMENT 9 "The Purple Rain Music".
