In this Part 2 of Segment 18 "Love Symbol", we return to December 1992, and the "Love Symbol" album is not doing well on the charts. Prince is feeling the pressure for the album to succeed in light of his newly inked $100 Million Contract with Warner Bros. Records, making Prince the highest paid entertainer in the music business.
Prince tapes a 2-night TV special for ABC, and makes another appearance on "The Arsenio Hall Show" all for the purpose of promoting "Love Symbol", to no avail. Warner Bros. blames Prince's huge output of music, Prince blames Warner Bros. for not properly promoting the album. Prince starts engaging in tense meetings at the label, and begins looking for a way out.
Carmen Electra's album is finally released and Prince tours the U.S. with the short "ACT I" Tour, as tensions reach a breaking point between Prince and Warner Bros. Prince and The New Power Generation record a new album "Gold Nigga", but Prince hides his involvement with the project. Warner Bros. rejects the album and asks Prince to pause his music making in preparation for a "Greatest Hits" package.
Prince then announces his "retirement", and that he will not present any more new music to WB, fulfilling his contract with old music from "The Vault" at Paisley Park. Then, Prince announces that he is officially changing his name to the "Unpronounceable Symbol" gracing the cover of the latest album. WB then formally presents the "Greatest Hits" concept to Prince, who agrees to it.
