This is an OUTTAKE from the last episode in the series, Part 10(d) “Rap and Hip Hop, Miles Davis, Spike Lee, and Prince”. We discussed in that episode, the many collaborations and friendships Prince had in the rap and hip hop world, that began in the early 1990’s, that carried on for decades up to Prince’s death in 2016.
I covered several artists in that section of the episode, but when writing and editing the section about Prince and Tupac Shakur, I looked up and realized I had an hour's worth of content on Prince and Tupac. So, I decided to present that information in this first ever OUTTAKE from the “Prince’s Spiritual Life and Journey” series.
The Connection Between Prince and Tupac
Years ago, I would never have imagined that there was a connection between Prince and Tupac. However, over the last few years of my work with Prince, he has allowed me to meet and connect with members of our soul family: some transitioned souls who have left this plane, and some who are still here in body. I am waiting for the next episode, Part 11 of “Prince’s Spiritual Life and Journey" to detail the complete story of my personal work with Prince over the years since we left off in Part 6 “Afterword: My Personal Work With Prince (Up to 2019)”. But since I met with Tupac several times in 2020 and 2021, I knew I had to provide some info on Prince and Tupac ahead of that episode.
As I have discussed in past episodes of “Prince’s Spiritual Life and Journey”, particularly Part 5: “Prince’s Ascension”, Prince as well as others in our “soul family”, came to this plane to carry out specific high vibrational missions here, mainly of social justice, fighting oppression and promoting freedom. For many celebrities in our soul family, this included fighting for the rights of Black Americans, struggling in a system of white supremacy, and the aftereffects of chattel slavery in the United States.
I began witnessing the work that Prince, Tupac, and other soul family members were doing on the higher dimensions, regularly in 2020, in the months prior to George Floyd’s murder in Minnesota by Minneapolis police officers. George Floyd’s murder, captured on video sparked international outrage and showed the world the brutality that has been inflicted upon Black Americans for centuries in the United States.
We review Tupac’s short life and career, and understand how like many “wayshowers” who came with a mission towards freedom, justice, and empowerment; he was beaten by law enforcement multiple times, wrongfully arrested, wrongfully convicted criminally, incarcerated, and shot multiple times, resulting in his death in September of 1996.
Prince and Tupac first met in 1992, when Tupac played Prince’s “Glam Slam West” club in Los Angeles. We saw in Part 10(d): “Rap and Hip Hop, Miles Davis, Spike Lee, and Prince”, that Prince became friendly with many rap and hip hop artists at this time 1991-1996, since this was a time of great racial unrest and strife in America for Black people. The beating of Rodney King, The L.A. Uprising, and the O.J. Simpson trial, all took place at this time as Tupac was undergoing all his struggles, and as Prince changed his name to a “symbol”, wrote SLAVE on his face and fought to leave the Warner Brothers contract.
It's no accident that as Tupac became more vocal about societal oppression, he was targeted more and more. Prince was also targeted at this time for fighting Warner Brothers Records, and bucking the system. We will see in upcoming episodes of “The Ritualiistic Life and Muurder of Prince”, that Prince’s "Glam Slam" clubs will be targeted by law enforcement, but they could never make the charges stick.
Prince rarely allowed his music to be sampled by Rap and Hip Hop artists, even those who he had long term friendships with. But Prince would allow Tupac to sample his music on 3 released Tupac tracks, most notably on Tupac’s last album released during his lifetime, “All Eyez on Me”. Prince’s music would also be licensed to Tupac’s estate on a few posthumous tracks that were never released.
1996: An Important Year in the Shift
In Part 5 of this series, “Prince’s Ascension”, we talked about various years and time periods that were pivotal in the energetic shift of the planet, back to the higher frequencies. 1996 was one of the most important years energetically, not only for the planet but also for Prince.
1996 was an important year for Prince: he left the Warner Brothers contract, he got married, and he lost his son Amir about 10 days after his birth. There were also a few more deaths in 1996 of others in Prince’s circle. And let’s not forget, that Prince was found unresponsive in his Paisley Park studio on April 21, 1996, 20 years to the day of Prince’s actual death under similar circumstances.
Also in 1996, Tupac Shakur was shot on September 7, 1996 in Las Vegas. He died of his wounds 6 days later. It was no accident that all these events took place in 1996, this important year in the energetic shift of the planet. Many in “The Family of Light” left the planet at this time, to continue the work with the collective from a higher place.
Coming up in Pt. 5 of “The Ritualistic Life and Murder of Prince” series, we pick up in 1996 and take a closer look at these events in Prince’s life and world.
Prince and Tupac: 2016 and Beyond
When reviewing Tupac’s very short life and career, we understand that Tupac, like many in our soul family came into this life to seek social justice, and freedom for the collective. In this case for Black people under the wicked system in America. Tupac experienced police brutality, prison incarceration, and was murdered and removed from this plane. He was shining a light upon injustice in America and making plans with and for the collective that would empower and free us to receive long deserved justice. The more Tupac spoke of these plans, the more he was targeted until he was eventually killed.
Again, in Pt. 5 “Prince’s Ascension”, we talked about the work Prince was doing in the last few years of his life, and the plans he had for “The Fam”. We also discussed Prince’s social justice work in the last years of his life, working toward racial equality, educating about the murders of Trevon Martin, Michael Brown, and Freddie Gray and working to combat police brutality against unarmed black people in America. Prince’s music also reflected this “work” since the mid 1990’s as he sang about slavery reparations, educational equity, and artistic freedom.
It was no accident that Prince and Tupac crossed paths in 1992, and did similar work in the 1990s, and for Prince; on through the years. However, like many in our soul family, they were killed and removed from this life, to stop this work they came to do.
